Dr.Praveen V. K

Dr. V. K. Praveen completed his M.Sc. In Applied Chemistry from University of Calicut (2001) and Ph.D. from CSIR-NIIST (University of Kerala) under the supervision of Prof. A. Ajayaghosh in 2007. He then joined the research group of Prof. Takuzo Aida at the University of Tokyo, Japan as a Global Centre of Excellence (GCOE) Post-Doctoral Fellow and later became a Japanese Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) Post-Doctoral Fellow in 2009. He then moved to Italy in 2011 as a Marie Sklodowska Curie International Incoming Fellow at ISOF-CNR, Bologna in the research group of Dr. Nicola Armaroli. He then returned to India as a Research Associate in the group of Dr. A. Ajayaghosh, CSIR-NIIST. In 2015, he was awarded Start-up Research Grant for Young Scientists by Department of Science and Technology (DST), India, which allowed to start his research group at Photosciences and Photonics Section, Chemical Sciences and Technology Division, CSIR-NIIST. In 2016, he got promoted as a CSIR-Scientist Fellow and AcSIR assistant professor. He became a Senior Scientist in 2018.
His research interests include Supramolecular Systems Chemistry with focus on study on Pathway-Complexity in Supramolecular Self-Assembly, Study of Photophysical Properties of Fluorescent Molecules and Development of Fluorescent Materials for Security and Sensing Applications.
To date, he has published more than 50 articles in various peer-reviewed international journals, 5 book chapters and has over 6500 citations with a H-index of 33 and i10-index of 45.
