Liquid electrolytes in electrochemical devices suffer from leakage issues and hence gel or solid electrolytes are generally preferred. The present invention intends to disclose the development of a gel electrolyte system which differs from conventional gel electrolytes via the addition of a composition controlled molecular additive, and its use in laminated electrochromic devices with improved performance.
