SUSTAINED RELEASE LIQUID DOSAGE FORM FOR STEAM INHALATION A stable, self-emulsifying, sustained  release liquid dosage composition which with the addition of insoluble active ingredients, can extend the time of release of these  insoluble ingredients during steam inhalation therapy. The dosage form is formulated as a homogeneous mixture to ensure sustained  release, hence reducing the adverse effects which can occur by exceeding the maximum tolerated dose. The dosage form comprises of  (a) a mixture of insoluble active ingredients, (b) one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients such as a suitable suspending and  emulsifying medium in which the active ingredients are suspended, to maximize the time frame of the active ingredients, (c) a vehicle  or co solvent along with other pharmaceutically acceptable excipients for ensuring maximum homogeneity of the dosage form as well  as to ensure proper dispensability when used as steam therapy. The embodied formulation was also able to extend the release of active  ingredients up to 30 mins with only 19.97 % reduction when compared to 72.31 % decrease of active ingredients in the unformulated  product in simulated steam inhalation condition. The present embodiment was also able to prolong the release of the active ingredients  from 24 - 72 hours.
